The test device “TOTAL IRON CHECK" enables regular on-board monitoring of total iron content in cylinder drain oil (CDO) samples. The total iron concentration (the sum of abrasive and corrosive wear) provides an indication of excessive wear and tear of the components surrounding the engine combustion chamber. The precise measurement method of Martechnic is based on the chemical reaction of iron present in cylinder lubricant in corroded or abrasive state and special reaction liquid.
